To commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2014, the Sawt Foundation for Development organized an event titled “Another Voice for Victims of Enforced Disappearance” at the Cultural House Hall in Sana’a. The event honored a number of families of the forcibly disappeared and launched the book “Another Voice for the Forcibly Disappeared”.
The event was held under the patronage of Yemen’s Ministry of Culture and in coordination with the Arab Network for Monitoring and Changing the Image of Women and Men in Arab Media.
The book compiles investigations, reports, and journalistic stories, most of which were previously published in Al-Nida’a newspaper at various times. These investigations and reports document critical accounts and information about victims of enforced disappearance and the suffering endured by their families – particularly women – who became victims of a decades-long, ongoing crime. Most continue to endure profound hardship under tragic circumstances that will haunt some for the rest of their lives.
